Kyvèli

 

Dear Spectator,

My name is Kyvèli (Pronounced: Key🔑 - vèh - lee / in Greek, my native tongue: Κυβέλη). Zoi: (Zoe - Ζωή), which in Greek means “life”, is my middle name, and my family name is: Stenou (Στενού). Everyone calls me: Kyvèli.

Kyvèli is a painter living and working in Athens, Greece. Her work is about creating oneiric situations through the observation and experience of the self in the surrounding environment, by experimenting on the relationship of the spectator and the spectacle. She primarily focuses her research on the themes of fate, faith, spirituality, anthropological history, unity and eros. Kyvèli has exhibited in numerous group and solo  exhibitions internationally, from New York, Paris, London, Los Angeles, Madrid, Naples and Athens, while her work also belongs to a number of private collections across the globe.  She was awarded the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Artist Fellowship in 2021-22. She is also the founder of KYAN, a project space and artist residency in Athens, Greece.
